The 2018 UITPANZ Young Transport Professionals Seminar in Sydney will bring together emerging leaders within the transport sector to connect, network and learn. 

Come and hear from keynote speaker Rodd Staples, Secretary of Transport for NSW, international keynote Colin Lim, CEO of MobilityX, Marg Prendergast, Coordinator General at TfNSW, and other speakers (see more below).

The theme for this year’s Seminar is ‘The Future of Mobility in Australia and New Zealand'. With keynote addresses and presentations from Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, attendees will learn about the ideas and issues that will define the future of mobility from transport executives, expert presentations and panel discussions. The Young Transport Professionals Seminar will include topics on integrated mobility, the role of data, customer experience, mobility as a service, as well as reflections from senior executives responsible for major transport portfolios.

Designed for young professionals under 35 years or 5 years experience, the interactive seminar will also include the launch of the TAG Young Transport Professionals Bursary to attend the 2019 Global Public Transport Summit in Stockholm. 

This year’s Seminar will be held on Wednesday 31 October 2018 at PwC’s Barangaroo office.

Keynote Address: Transport Trends – how TfNSW are Embracing Them

Rodd Staples, Secretary of Transport for NSW, will deliver the afternoon keynote address. He will reflect on his personal career journey in the transport sector, and share his perspectives on the major trends influencing the future of transport in NSW, and how Transport for NSW is responding to these trends to deliver better customer outcomes.

Michael McGee, CEO, Transit Australia Group

Keynote Address: Transport Innovation and Disruption

In his Keynote Address, Michael will share his views on innovation in public transport, how Australian public transport systems should respond to disruption, and how to better bring together transport modes. Michael McGee will also launch the Transit Australia Group Young Transport Professionals Bursary.

Colin Lim, CEO, mobilityX

Keynote Address: Mobility as a Service

mobilityX has recently undertaken trials of their Mobility as a Service platform in Singapore. Colin Lim will cover the breadth of MaaS activities underway in Singapore, as well as lessons from mobilityX trials and an outline of where MaaS is heading. Colin will also share some insights from his career journey.

Marg Prendergast, Coordinator General, Transport Coordination, Transport for NSW

Project Case Study: Sydney Metro

Sydney Metro is Australia’s largest transport infrastructure project and will play a major role in Sydney’s development. In this session, Marg Prendergast will explore the strategic role of Sydney Metro for the city, and how her team has managed complex stakeholder relationships and transport network disruption during project design and delivery.

Marion Terrill, Transport Program Director, Grattan Institute

Transport in Australian Cities

With population booming in many Australian cities, politicians are searching for ways to bust congestion. But in the past five years, the impact of rapid population growth on commuting has been remarkably benign. Marion Terrill will explain how city-dwellers have been adapting, through changes in where we live, where we work and how we get between them.

Peter Hammond, Partner, PwC

Funding the Future

With increasing populations and declining revenues, the funding of transport infrastructure and services is under pressure. Peter Hammond, Partner at PwC, will set out a vision for sustainable approaches to funding transport in Australia.

Tilly Loughborough, Managing Director Queensland (Bus/Ferry) & Group General Manager Customer Experience, Transdev Australasia

Bringing the Customer on the Journey

Transforming transport has to be both for the customer and with the customer. In the final presentation of the day, Tilly Loughborough will outline how public transport systems can operate to deliver a great customer experience, and how we use data to better understand and meet customer needs.

Claire Pascoe, Lead Advisor - Multi Modal, New Zealand Transport Agency

Global Views on Combined Urban Mobility

Lessons for how to improve transport systems locally can come from anywhere around the world. In a wide-ranging presentation, Claire Pascoe will share experiences from both New Zealand and Amsterdam to outline what great multi-modal integration looks like.
