The International Association of Public Transport is represented in Australia and New Zealand by UITP Australia/New Zealand (known as UITPANZ). UITPANZ is part of the Asia-Pacific Division of the UITP global family.
UITPANZ facilitates the exchange of ideas and knowledge to further the development and advancement of public transport policy, planning and operations in the region. It is the only international association covering all modes of public transport in the Australia/New Zealand region.
Through its activities, UITPANZ brings together:
- government departments, agencies and authorities with responsibility for public transport
- public transport operating companies
- the service and supply industry
- research institutions, academics and consultants
Board of Management
UITPANZ is managed by a Board of Management.
The current Chairman of the Board is Ian Dobbs. Ian has worked in the public transportation industry for 40 years in both Australia and the UK. Ian has held a number of executive roles including as CEO of the Public Transport Corporation in Victoria, Australia, CEO of UK Stagecoach Group’s rail division. In 2011 Ian was appointed as the inaugural chairman and CEO of Public Transport Victoria. Ian stepped down from his role at Public Transport Victoria in 2015, and continues to advise a range of public and private sector organisations in the Australia New Zealand region.
UITPANZ is managed by Yasha Vojdani, Executive Director (Interim). Yasha is a transport sector specialist with experience in strategic planning, business transformation, commercial analysis and negotiations, transport policy development, transport planning, and economic analysis. Yasha has had a distinguished career working in the private sector in both Australia and the United Kingdom, with positions at companies including PwC, Booz&Co, and MVA Consultancy. Yasha has a Bachelor of Science from the London School of Economics and a Transport Economics MSc from the University of Leeds.
